DIY Fruit Car Key chain

Orange You Glad I Made Another DIY?!
Continuing with this week's theme of citrus crafts, I made a car key chain to look like an orange! This was one of the easiest projects I've made and I think it may be one of the cutest, too! I made this for myself but it would make a perfect gift for a friend who just moved or a 16 year old getting their license!
Read on for the full tutorial while I go and make more of these for everyone I know!

Supplies:
  • Plastic Bangles - I found these at Claire's! Color of bangles does not matter
  • Brightly Colored Thread - I bought this thread from Michaels in orange and yellow for an orange and a lemon
  • Key Rings - I bought this pack of keys and rings from Michaels
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Green Foam Paper
  • Pen/Pencil
  • Scissors

Step One: Tie the thread in a double knot around the bangle to start. Wrap the thread around and around loosely in 1 inch sections and pull tight. Continue this method until you've covered the entire bangle.
Check that your thread is pulled tightly around the bangle and secure with a double knot. Cut off any excess thread.

Step Two: Find the knots and slide the key ring around that part of the bangle. I found it easier to slightly move the thread so I could push the key ring onto the plastic.

Step Three: Use your pen to draw a stem and leaf on your green foam paper and cut out the shapes. Find the spot where the knots come together and glue your stem directly onto the thread. Once the glue is dry, adhere the leaf onto the foam stem. You only need a small amount of hot glue for this step.

Add your key to the metal ring and you're good to go! Told ya this project was easy!

I hope you enjoyed this DIY! I'd love to see your final projects. :)
