DIY Disco Ball Pumpkins!

That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh, I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh!!
Doesn't this song put you in the Disco mood?! While I was out shopping for Halloween craft supplies, I found these black pumpkins! If you've seen my other DIYs, you know how much I love bright colors but when I saw these, I knew I had to have them! After thinking of ways to brighten up these dark pumpkins, I came up with my idea: DIY Disco Ball Pumpkins!!
These make such a fun pop of metallic if you're like me and only have super bright Halloween decor!! Read on for the full tutorial!!

  • Black Craft Pumpkins - From Michaels! If you can't find black pumpkins, spray paint regular craft pumpkins (I used the medium sized pumpkin from Michaels - the bigger one in the picture!)
  • Silver Glitter Foam Paper - I used 2 regular sized sheets from Michaels
  • Black Marker - A thick pen will work as well
  • Ruler
  • Scissors

Step One: Decide which size pumpkin you are going to use. If you are using the medium sized pumpkin, I recommend making 1-inch squares. If you are using a smaller pumpkin, make smaller squares.
Flip your glitter foam paper over to measure out 1 inch across the top of the paper. Repeat this step down the paper and draw straight lines connecting the dots so you have 1 inch sections.

Step Two: Repeat step one by making 1-inch sections horizontally across the paper.
If you are using the medium sized pumpkin, you will need to do this on 2 sheets of the foam paper.

Step Three: Cut out the foam paper squares. I tried a few different methods of attaching the foam to the pumpkin and here's what worked best: Cut the first line of squares at a time and attach to the pumpkin. Once you have a line of squares from top to bottom, add a square in the middle to the left or right of the complete line, before completing the second line of squares. This will help you keep even rows going around the pumpkin.
You may need to cut some irregular shapes to make the top of bottom sections fit evenly!

Now let's BOOGIE!!

Definitely having major FOMO that I missed out on the disco years but I'm pretty happy with how this pumpkin turned out!!

XOXO, Karly
