DIY Snapchat Couple's Costume

Happy October!!
The first day of this month brings the start to so many good things: leaves changing colors, pumpkin spice everything, oh, and HALLOWEEN!!
A little known fact about me is that I am obsessed with every holiday and Halloween is no exception!! I have been dressing up since good ole '91 - which every Minnesotan remembers as the 1991 perfect storm - when my dad carried my brother and me through 2 feet of snow for my first night of trick-or-treating.
Thus, my love of Halloween was born.
When I was much younger, my mom would sew my costumes and often make herself a matching set. [How cute is that?!] For the past few years I have been carrying on the tradition but making couple's costumes instead (don't worry my mom is not offended)!
Last year's costume was my favorite so far! If you have ever used a Snapchat filter, I have a feeling you will recognize this costume!
Read on below to see how I created this look! It's so easy to make and chances are you already have everything you need at home! :D
Supplies:

  • Snapchat Dog Template
  • White Card Stock
  • Headband
  • Duct Tape
  • Clear Tape
  • Painter's Stick
  • Breath Right Strip - This is to attach the dog nose to your nose.

Step One: Purchase/find your supplies around the house! Print off the Free Snapchat Dog Template onto card stock and cut out the dog ears, nose, and tongue.
Repeat with the second filter if you are making this for a couple's costume.

Step Two: Decide how far apart you want your ears to be. Wrap the ears around the headband and secure with a piece of clear tape.

Step Three: Take the nose and place face down. Remove the back of the Breath Right strip and place horizontally on the nose, sticky side up. Cut a small piece of duct tape and adhere the Breath Right to the dog nose.

Step Four: Flip over the dog tongue and tape the painter's stick to the back with duct tape. Make sure to start the tip of the painter's stick below the tip of the tongue so that it doesn't show at the top. Give yourself enough room at the bottom so you can hold onto it all night!

So... Are you going to stand out from the crowd and make this your costume for Halloween 2017?!

XOXO, Karly
