DIY Candy Corn Costume

Hi DIY Darlings!!
I have another super easy, last minute Halloween costume to share with you today!
I made this DIY Candy Corn headband in less than 30 minutes.  It can be paired with any white, orange, or yellow t-shirt for a festive costume! :)
Read on for the step-by-step tutorial!

Supplies:
  • Foam Cone
  • White Printer Paper
  • Orange Acrylic Paint
  • Yellow Acrylic Paint
  • Foam Brush
  • Painters Tape
  • Headband
  • Packing (clear) Tape
  • Duct Tape
Step One: Use the printer paper to wrap your foam cone. Use a small piece of packing tape to hold the first corner of paper to the cone. Wrap the paper all the way around the cone and secure with a piece of packing tape.
P.S. Ignore the yellow paint on the foam cone - this was my first attempt at this DIY!

Step Two: Section off the bottom 1/3 of the paper cone and wrap with painters tape. Paint the bottom of the cone with yellow paint. Let dry (approx. 5 min) and paint a second coat.
*Note you will not be able to paint over the packing tape so this section will be in the back of your headband.

Step Three: Section off the middle 1/3 of the paper cone with painters tape. You will need to wrap the bottom piece of tape over the top of the yellow section so that there is not a gap of white between the yellow and orange sections. Paint this section with orange paint. Let dry for 5 minutes and paint a second coat.

Step Four: Remove the tape from the paper cone. Carefully lift the paper off the foam and set aside.
Attach the foam cone to the headband with duct tape (see picture below). Make sure the duct tape is sealed tight and light the paper back onto the cone.

I hope you can use this costume for any last minute invites you receive this year!

XOXO, Karly
