DIY Tassel Bracelets

Hello DIY Darlings!!
I started a new job this week and it has thrown off my posting schedule! I hope everyone has had a good week so far!
This past weekend, I tackled a DIY project that I don't usually attempt... JEWELRY! I am pretty unfamiliar with types of beads, hooks, etc but my BFF is a guru and promised me we would make something easy! {P.S. She just so happens to have an Etsy page that you should totally check out - click HERE!}
We decided to make some beaded bracelets with tassels (my fav) and these were so easy and quick to make!

Check out my step-by-step tutorial below to make your own set for the summer!!

Supplies
  • Round Beads (10mm) - I used 16 beads for each bracelet! You may need more or less depending on the size of your wrist/how tight you want your bracelet to be. I found these at a specific bead store but they also had some in other colors at Michaels.
  • Round Beads (size 8) - I used 16 of these beads for each bracelet! Make sure to have the same amount as the large beads. I found these at a specific bead store but they also had some in other colors at Michaels.
  • Elastic Cord - Stretch Magic worked great and was on sale at Michaels!
  • String - I used metallic string from Michaels for the tassels!
  • Endcap - These were used for the tassels and purchased from a specific bead store. If you can not find them, you can wrap the tassel around the bracelet and secure with a knot!
  • Glue - I used Tacky glue but super glue would work just as well!
  • Small Open Links/Rings - I used these to attach the tassel to the bracelet! If you can't find these, you can use an extra piece of string to attach to bracelet.
  • Scissors
  • Pliers

Step One: Purchase your supplies. I made two bracelets that I could wear together so I purchased beads and string in colors that would work together!
Take your elastic string and measure it around your wrist. Before cutting the string, measure an extra 5 inches to make sure you have enough string to tie a knot. Take approx. 16 large and 16 small beads out of their containers. Carefully string them onto your elastic, alternating small and large beads, and ensure that they are not falling off on the other side.

Step Two: Once you have enough beads to wrap around your wrist, secure the bracelet by tying two TIGHT double knots with the elastic string. Hold the knots with one hand and finish with a dot of glue.

Step Three: Now that you have added the beads to your bracelet, it's time to create the tassel. Wrap the string around your fingers 5 times if you want the same thickness of tassels as in my pictures! Cut the string and then cut a piece about 5 inches long and tie the tassel together.

Step Four: Glue the top of the tassel into the end cap and hold for 10 seconds. Use your pliers to open the small ring/link and hook around the bracelet. Use the pliers to securely close the link.
If you do not have these links, use a piece of the tassel string to tie the end cap the the bracelet!

Step Five: Cut your tassel to your liking and repeat the steps above to make more coordinating bracelets!!

I hope you enjoyed this DIY project (and one of my first attempts with jewelry making)!!
