DIY Sequin Beach Hat

Hello Long Weekend!!
I will be spending the next three days enjoying some much needed time in the sun! Don't worry, I will be sure to protect my white MN skin with lots of sunblock and my DIY beach hat!
This DIY project is super easy and took less than an hour to turn my plain hat into one I'm so excited to wear! Check out the step-by-step tutorial to see how you can make your own! :)

Supplies:
Wide Brimmed Beach Hat - I purchased mine from Target but they sell these at most department stores! I made sure to find a light colored hat so the black sequins would pop!
3 Yards Black Sequins Ribbon - Make sure to buy the yards of sequins and not individual sequin or this project will take you a very long time! I found sequins by the yard at Joann Fabrics! bought 3 yards but only needed 2 1/2 yards for this phrase.
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun
Toothpick

Phrase Ideas:
On Holiday
Out of Office
Hello Sunshine
Do Not Disturb
Summertime

Step One: Lightly write out your phrase around the brim of the hat with your pencil. This does not need to be perfect, just give yourself an idea of how big to make each letter so that it fits on the brim how you want it to. You can erase the pencil marks after you glue down the sequins!

Step Two: Before gluing, shape your sequins over the pencil marks. Lift up your sequins and carefully hot glue in 2 inch sections at a time. I recommend using a toothpick to hold down the sequins on top of the hot glue. This will keep the tips of your fingers from getting burned!!

Step Three: Cut your sequins at the end of each line/letter that does not connect to another letter. You may need to use extra hot glue at the ends if your sequins falls off the end of the thread. Finish gluing all of your sequins to the hat.  Your last step is to fill in any missing spots with individual sequins!

Wasn't that so easy?! I hope you were able to finish this project without any hot glue incidents! I'm currently rocking two Barbie band-aids on my knuckles.

I hope you enjoyed this summer DIY project!!
I'd love to see your pictures!  Use the hashtag #KPApreps !!
