DIY Heart Hand Warmers

It's finally March which means winter is coming to an end!!
To a Minnesota girl with a love of the sun, this is an exciting time :)
Fingers crossed, this will be the last month with snow which means my heart hand-warmers will only come in handy for a little while longer! Make 'em while they're hot!! ;)
P.S. This is such an easy DIY project and makes the perfect gift!

Supplies:

FREE Heart Template
2 yards (total) of any fabric of your choice.  I chose a nova-check pattern and a solid black and purchased 1 yard of each from Hancock Fabrics.
Needle and Thread that matches the color of your fabric
Rice
Funnel for Rice
Sharpie

Step 1: Purchase supplies and cut out heart template (free template located HERE).

Step 2: Trace heart template onto fabric.  Keep in mind, your heart hand-warmers will be slightly smaller than the template after you sew them together.

Step 3: Cut out hearts and place them on top of one another.  You may want to pin them together before you begin to sew.

Step 4:  Sew fabric hearts together with matching thread.  Leave about a 1/2 inch gap for filling with rice.  Use a funnel to fill about 3/4 full with rice (be careful, this can be messy!).  Finish sewing once the hand-warmers are full of rice.

Step 5: Put these in the microwave for 20 seconds and enjoy your hand made heart hand-warmers!!
